The September Fortbet Rising Stars Awards took place on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at Lazo Hotel in Kololo.

The awards recognized excellence in four categories of football, boxing, woodball, and life achievement.

In football, Wakiso Giants FC striker Herbert Asiimwe was named the best male footballer for September.

Asiimwe outshone KCCA FC midfielder Saidi Mayanja and NEC FC’s Enock Ssebagala to win the award.

He scored three goals in three matches, netting one goal in each game against Soltilo Bright Stars, Maroons FC, and Mbale Heroes.

In the boxing category, Herbert Matovu took home the award, edging Owen Kibira and Ukasha Matovu.

Matovu recently defeated Kheri Mbaluku to win the Africa Boxing Union regional title.

Isaac Ariho of Uganda Prisons won the woodball award, surpassing Alfred Nsabimana and Joyce Nalubega. Ariho led Prisons to their third consecutive Woodball League title.

The life achiever award, a unique honor, was posthumously awarded to Charles Muhangi, a rallying legend and mentor to many in the sport.

He was a former ARC champion and the award was picked by Patience Muhangi Mbabazi, a wife to late Muhangi.
