FMU relieves rider Parents’ pressure ahead of MXOAN in South Africa.

THE Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda(FMU) has relieved off pressure from rider parents that ensured participation ahead of the forthcoming FIM-AFRICA Motocross of African Nations Championship set to be held in Cape Town, South Africa.
The annual continental Championship is slated for 11th-13th August,2023 at Zone7- Speedspot race track in Cape Town.

Preparation pressures had risen amongst parents, on how they would meet deadlines for respective event demands including visas, travel tickets, accommodation, transportation of bikes among others.

In close out meeting held on Monday 31st July, 2023 by management team together with steering committee at Federation secretiat Lugogo, decided to cover ALL priorities to enable 34 selected riders participate competitively.
“Its a welcome move that has started this year, with government extending its support to the team,” outlined Kisitu Mayanja, FMU vice president Motocycling.
He added, the timely gesture from the Federation and government, had helped relieve on the load riders and parents had.
The outlined funds estimated at 200,259,100/= will go towards covering airtickets for all riders, air lifting of bikes to and flow to Cape Town, Airport shuttle for riders for six days in Central Cape Town, entry fee for all riders, FIM licences for 34 riders, transponder fees, bike transportation to and from track plus two officials facilitation.
“The decision has been reached amid meagre resources, thanks for having confidence in the steering committee and for being patient with us,” said Dipu Ruparelia, FMU president in written communication to riders and parents.
He added that, those who made up payments on the asorted items with receipts, shall be refunded at current rate prices.
Dipu further commented that the refunds on various earlier costs paid by the rider parents will be able to cover lighter expenses on accommodation and meals.
Riders were asked to have a central location point of bikes, for pickup to the Airport on the day that will be communicated to them.
