FIFA Staff shatter Guinness World Record with historic multicultural match

In a resounding celebration of global unity, FIFA staff from 69 countries converged on the field in Morocco to set a new Guinness World Record for the greatest number of nationalities sharing the same pitch.

The electrifying match, featuring a dynamic carousel of substitutions, embodied the essence of soccer – a sport that transcends borders and belongs to every corner of the globe.

“We recognized we could do something that celebrates our diversity,” said Solomon Mudege, Head of FIFA’s Development Programs for Africa, echoing the sentiment behind this groundbreaking event.

The meticulously organized game saw men and women from diverse backgrounds rotating on and off the field, ensuring the record-breaking attempt met the required criteria.

As passports from across the world lined the referee table, the message was clear: football knows no bounds. “Football involves the entire world,” said Fatou Camara, Development Manager in FIFA’s Africa office, underscoring the sport’s universal appeal.

The record-breaking feat beats the previous mark set in 2019 and serves as a powerful symbol of unity, as FIFA continues to promote the beautiful game worldwide.

The historic match takes place as FIFA establishes a new regional hub in Rabat, Morocco, ahead of the 2030 World Cup, co-hosted by Spain, Portugal, and Morocco.
