FEASSA Netball: Buddo SS edges out St. Noa in thrilling encounter

Uganda’s national netball champions, Buddo Secondary School, have maintained their perfect record in the Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSA) Games with a hard-fought 46-43 win over St. Noa Girls Secondary School-Zana in Kakamega, Kenya.

This marks Buddo’s third consecutive victory in their quest for a historic maiden FEASSA title.

St. Noa’s loss makes them the second Ugandan team to suffer a defeat in this edition, following newbies Hamdan Islamic, who lost 42-19 to defending champions St. Mary’s Boarding Secondary School-Kitende.

In other matches, Hamdan Islamic bounced back from their previous loss to Kitende with a convincing 64-29 win over Tanzania’s Bogogwa.

Meanwhile, defending champions St. Mary’s Kitende registered their third win with an 80-12 thrashing of Kenya’s Kayatiwi.

After three match days, Buddo SS tops Group A with six points, followed by St. Noa with four points.

In Group B, St. Mary’s Kitende leads with six points, while Kenya’s Oyugi Ongango sits second.

Hamdan Islamic, currently third in Group B, will need to beat Oyugi Ongango to revive their chances of advancing to the semi-finals.

St. Mary’s Kitende, the defending champions, have a storied history in the FEASSA Netball tournament, having won 19 titles in the last 21 editions.

Only Gombe SS (2002) and St. Noa Girls Secondary School-Zana (2018) have managed to break their dominance and claim the title.

The competition is shaping up to be intense, with top teams vying for the coveted championship.
