Express FC confirmed their place in the Uganda Cup quarterfinals with a dominant 4-0 victory over Red Devo FC, wrapping up the Round of 16 in emphatic fashion under the Friday night lights at Hamz Stadium.

The Red Eagles left it late to fully assert their superiority, but once they did, the floodgates opened.

Substitute Kenneth Kimera proved decisive, netting twice in the 88th and 89th minutes to turn a comfortable lead into a resounding statement.

Fellow substitute Herbert Assimwe added gloss to the scoreline deep into stoppage time, capping a clinical second-half display.

Earlier, Henry Wamala had handed Express a deserved breakthrough in the 38th minute, calmly finishing Blanchar Mulamba’s low delivery to separate the sides before the interval.

The result completes a formidable quarterfinal lineup, with Express joining holders Vipers SC, KCCA FC, URA FC, Kitara FC, NEC FC, SC Villa, and surprise package Happy Boys Kagaba.

Elsewhere, URA FC had already secured passage with a composed 3-0 win over Tapoh FC, courtesy of goals from Olimi Nyarwa, Moses Aliro, and Godfrey Ssekibengo.

With the quarterfinal draw imminent, focus now shifts to the competition’s defining stage, where continental qualification stakes heighten the urgency.
