Express FC fought back in the closing minutes to earn a 1–1 draw against Maroons FC in an entertaining Uganda Premier League clash at Hamz Stadium Nakivubo on Wednesday evening.
The contest was played in chilly conditions but produced a lively spectacle, with both sides displaying attacking intent and urgency throughout the night.
After a balanced first half, Maroons eventually seized the initiative in the 75th minute when Jackson Nunda broke the deadlock.
The forward capitalized on a forceful attacking move to beat the Express defense and put his side ahead.
However, Express responded swiftly. Just seven minutes later, Kenneth Kimera restored parity with a clinical finish after a superb delivery from Marvin Nyanzi, sending the home supporters into celebration.
Earlier in the match, Maroons nearly opened the scoring when Norman Odipio unleashed a long-range strike that rattled the woodwork.
Express also threatened before the break, with Kimera testing Maroons goalkeeper Hassan Matovu, who produced a solid save.
The draw leaves Express sitting 10th on the table with 19 points, level with ninth-placed Maroons after 18 matches, as both sides continue their quest for consistency in the league campaign.
