CNOOC Uganda Limited has reaffirmed its commitment to holistic community development, ensuring both immediate and long-term socio-economic benefits for the Bunyoro region.

This dedication is exemplified through the company’s various impactful initiatives, including education, healthcare, and environmental stewardship.

In education, CNOOC provides International Scholarships to China for outstanding students, conducts Best Performers Awards to promote academic excellence, and has benefited 218 students this year.

The company also organizes free medical camps, conducts knowledge-sharing sessions, and offers National Content Skilling Programs, which have benefited over 1000 youths.

The company’s commitment to community development was further demonstrated through the Kingfisher Bunyoro Youth Engagement Games, a month-long initiative aimed at promoting youth talent, community mobilization, and strengthening bonds across the Bunyoro region.

The games, held in partnership with the Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom, featured 28 matches, showcasing the region’s remarkable sporting talent and community spirit.

According to Ms. Aminah Bukenya, Ag. Head of Corporate Affairs CNOOC Uganda Limited, “These games have demonstrated the unifying power of sports in bringing together diverse members of the Bunyoro community, stakeholders, and partners.

Through this initiative, we have not only celebrated sporting excellence but also laid the foundation for sustainable development and strengthened community ties.”

Andrew Byakutaaga Ateenyi, Prime Minister of the Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom, echoed these sentiments, highlighting the broader impact of the engagement: “CNOOC’s unwavering support through initiatives like this goes beyond the games.

It’s about preparing our youth for future opportunities in the oil and gas sector and fostering unity within the host communities.”
