
City Tyres East African Badminton Challenge starts with record-breaking participation
The 8th edition of the City Tyres East African Badminton Challenge has officially begun at the MTN Arena in Lugogo, Uganda.
This year’s event has attracted a record 1,118 participants from across East Africa, including Kenya, Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda, and South Sudan.

The competition features various categories, including primary schools, secondary schools, universities, companies, veterans, professionals, coaches, and corporates.
Mandela Group’s Marketing Executive, Mahad Twaha, expressed the company’s commitment to supporting badminton, stating, “We are very proud of this partnership. We find badminton as the genuine route to reach the community.”

Uganda Badminton Association CEO Simon Mugabi praised City Tyres for their continued financial support, emphasizing the broader vision behind the event.
“This competition is going to provide many players with invaluable exposure. It’s truly one of the special events in Ugandan Badminton.”

The tournament promises to be an exciting celebration of badminton and camaraderie, with athletes from across East Africa ready to showcase their skills.
The Mandela Group’s long-term commitment to supporting badminton is evident in their 8-year partnership with the event.
The four day championship that started today, will climax this Sunday, the 19th at Lugogo Indoor Stadium in Kampala.
A total of 11 million cash prize will be shared amongst different categories winners.
