The City Oilers have officially confirmed the departure of team captain Ivan Muhwezi, bringing an end to a six-year tenure that began in March 2018.

Muhwezi led the Oilers to their 10th league title last season.

However, he has been absent since the tee-off of the current campaign due to unresolved contract disputes.

The club’s decision to part ways with Muhwezi marks another significant exit, following the departures of long-serving stars Jimmy Enabu, James Okello, and Tonny Drilleba.

The Oilers have had a mixed start to the season, recording six wins and six losses.

Muhwezi has been training with the Nam Blazers and was expected to join them, having been noticeably absent from the Oilers’ lineup this season.

The Oilers will look to regroup and bounce back as they face the UCU Canons on June 20th.
