In a shocking turn of events, Busoga United Football Club condemned high-flying Blacks Power to a 1-0 defeat on match day 15 of the 2024-2025 FUFA Big League at the Kyabazinga stadium in Bugembe, Jinja city on Monday, 20th January 2025.

The decisive goal was scored by winger Nazir Sserwadda, a former player at Gaddafi Football Club, in the 63rd minute of the game.

The victory marked a significant turning point for Busoga United, who jumped out of the relegation zone to 9th place on the 15-team log with 17 points.

Coach Charles Ayiekho Lukula’s team has given themselves a lifeline in their quest to avoid relegation.

On the other hand, the loss was a significant setback for Blacks Power’s promotion campaign back to the Uganda Premier League.

They remain second on the table standings with 29 points, just one point behind leaders Gaddafi.

Gaddafi was held to a goalless draw by visiting Kataka from Mbale at the Works playground in Entebbe Municipality on Sunday.

Other notable results from match day 15 include a goalless stalemate between Paidha Black Angels and Calvary in the epic West Nile derby, which grossed over Ug.Shs 11,000,000.

Kiyinda Boys recovered from a goal down to overcome Buhimba United Saints 2-1 at the Kigaaya primary school playground in Kikuube district.

Additional results from Sunday’s matches saw Ntugasaze defeat visiting Kaaro Karungi 3-2 at the Mityana Ssaza ground, while Arua Hill overcame Booma at the Pece War Memorial stadium in Gulu city, courtesy of goals from Gerald Kirya and Dickens Kilama.

MYDA and Kigezi Home Boyz shared the spoils 1-all at the Kongunga primary school in Bukedea district.

The first round of the 2024-2025 season has come to a close, paving the way for a grueling second phase.

Ultimately, three clubs will be promoted to the Uganda Premier League in May 2025, while four clubs will be relegated to their respective regional leagues.
