FEASSA reigning champions Bukedea Comprehensive School extended their unbeaten streak with a commanding 2-0 victory over Janan Secondary School Bombo, securing their place in the quarterfinals of the Elite Schools Championship.
The encounter, held at the Janan Secondary School main ground in Bombo, was a tense affair that saw both sides unable to break the deadlock in the opening half.
However, the East African champions came alive after the break, with Eric Isabirye drawing first blood, before Godi Musa Akbar sealed the win with a second goal that highlighted the team’s clinical finishing.
With this win, Bukedea Comprehensive School topped Group C with seven points from three matches, having already claimed a 1-0 victory over Kawempe Muslim SS and a 2-2 draw against Mentor SS in their opening fixtures.
The side, coached by Ssali Ronald, now eagerly awaits their quarterfinal opponent as they continue their quest for glory in the tournament.
On the other hand, Janan Secondary School’s hopes of progressing were dashed, as they failed to score a single goal throughout the group stage.
Despite efforts in their three fixtures—losing 2-0 to Bukedea, 2-0 to Kawempe Muslim SS, and 3-0 to Mentor SS—the hosts were unable to register any points and bowed out of the competition.
The Elite Schools Championship will culminate on Sunday at Janan Secondary School, with the quarterfinals set to feature some thrilling encounters.
