The stage is set for the 2026 Buganda Schools Sports football championship after the official draws were conducted Thursday afternoon at Bulange in Mengo, organizing 48 boys’ teams into 12 competitive groups of four.

This year’s tournament will run from March 11 to 15 at Kawanda Secondary School in Wakiso, where schools from across Buganda will compete for regional supremacy.

The boys’ competition returns with heightened anticipation following last year’s dramatic finale.

Kawempe Muslim SS were crowned champions of the 2025 Buganda Schools Competition, edging Buddo SS 5-3 in a penalty shootout after the sides had settled for a 1-1 draw in normal time.

Meanwhile, the girls’ football category has so far attracted five confirmed teams that completed registration and payment.

The participating schools include holders Kawempe Muslim SS, Kawempe Royal College, God’s Way High School Maganjo, Gadaffi Integrated Academy, and Light College Katikamu.

Kawempe Muslim SS also dominated the girls’ tournament last year at Kawanda, successfully defending their crown after defeating Uganda Martyrs High School Lubaga 1-0.

The decisive goal came late in the match through Dorcus Kisakye, sealing another title for the Kampala-based side.
