Buddo SS dominates Nsangi Zone USSSA National Ball Games II Qualifiers

The 2025 Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) National Ball Games II qualifiers for the Nsangi Zone in Wakiso District have concluded, with host school Buddo SS emerging victorious in four out of five disciplines.

The one-day competition, held on Tuesday, June 10th, saw Buddo SS sweep trophies in U16 Football, Basketball 3X3 for both boys and girls, and Netball.

Netball

In the Netball competition, Buddo SS topped Group A, winning all three games to set up a semi-final tie with Madinah Islamic, who finished second in Group B.

Kisozi High School secured a 26-4 victory over St. Marios in the semi-finals to reach the final.

In a thrilling match, Buddo SS edged out Madinah Islamic 26-25 after extra time, amidst protests from Madinah over alleged umpiring decisions.

Buddo SS ultimately defended their Nsangi Zone title, defeating Kisozi High School 15-11 in the final.

The Netball tournament featured eight schools, divided into two groups.

Group A consisted of Buddo SS, St. Marios, Nsangi SS, and St. Catherine, while Group B comprised last year’s runners-up Madinah Islamic, St. Mark’s College – Namagoma, Kisozi High School, and Kinaawa High School.

Volleyball

In Volleyball, Kinaawa High School claimed the girls’ title with a 100% winning record.

The tournament featured four teams: Trinity College – Nabbingo, Nsangi SS, St. Mark’s College, and Kinaawa High School.

In the boys’ category, which included Kings College Budo, St. Catherine, Nsangi SS, St. Mark’s College, and Kinaawa High School, Kings College Budo emerged victorious.

Both categories were played in a round-robin format.

Basketball 3X3

Buddo SS dominated the Basketball 3X3 competition, winning both the boys’ and girls’ titles.

The boys’ teams were Buddo SS, St. Mark’s College, and Kinaawa High, while the girls’ teams were Buddo SS, St. Mark’s College, and Trinity College.

Chess

The Chess competition featured three teams: Nsangi SS, Trinity College, and Nsangi SS. Nsangi claimed the championship in both categories.

U16 Football

In the U16 football tournament, which included four teams – Brightland High School, Buddo SS, St. James, and Nsangi SS – Buddo SS emerged champions, recording an unbeaten run with three wins in three matches.

Qualification Slots

The top teams from the Nsangi Zone will proceed to the Wakiso District Qualifiers, with Nsangi securing four slots in Netball and three slots each in U16 Football and Basketball 3X3.
