Boxing: John Sserunjogi’s opponent Ahmed Borishe jets in ahead of ABU title fight
Uganda’s Super Middleweight pugilist John Sserunjogi’s opponent Egyptian Ahmed Borishe has touched base at Entebbe Airport ahead of Africa Boxing Union (ABU) title fight.
The fight is set to be held at the climax of ABU convention which started on Sunday, the 18th and will end this Friday 23rd August 2024 at Hotel Africana in Kampala.
Ahmed Borishehe who arrived with Merlin Tamba and their coach entered the country at 9:00pm ahead of the weigh-in exercise set for this morning at BMK House Conference Hall at 10am.
The night will have seven (7) confirmed bouts, starting at 7pm and closing at midnight.
Sserunjogi who began his professional career in November 2013 without any amateur experience will look forward to win his second continental belt in the professional ranks.
To date, he has fought 17 matches, winning 15 and lost two.
The convention which started on 18th attract all professional boxing national bodies from across the continent.
A series of activities ranging from ring officials; agents and promoters’ seminar and a long list of bouts at the climax were part of this year’s sitting.
Besides the main fight between Uganda’s Super Middleweight pugilist John Sserunjogi and Egyptian Ahmed Borishe, there shall also be a regional Super Welterweight title contest for East and Central Africa.
This fight will be between Uganda’s National champion Isaac Zebra Ssenyange Jr. and a Kenyan opponent.
On the same day, Joshua Nyanzi (Spyder) will battle Power Jjunju in a welterweight bout among others.
