Boxing community shrouded in mourning as Alex Kanaabi’s promising career is cut short

The Ugandan boxing fraternity is reeling from the sudden loss of Alex Kanaabi, a talented boxer who had been touting his name in the sport.

Kanaabi, a member of the KCCA Boxing Club, passed away at Kiruddu Hospital, with unconfirmed reports suggesting poisoning as the possible cause of death.

The circumstances surrounding his death are still unclear, with some sources hinting at suicide, a claim vehemently denied by his family.

The police have yet to release an official statement, leaving many in the boxing community seeking answers.

Kanaabi’s achievements in the ring had been nothing short of impressive.

He recently claimed the Light Middleweight Championship title in the Uganda Boxing Champions League, defeating Mawanda Depark in the final by unanimous decision at Lugog Arena on December 26th.
