All preparations are complete for the historic inaugural Mawokota Ssaza dinner, scheduled to take place this Friday, June 13th, 2025, at Jevine Hotel in Lubaga, Kampala.

Organized by the management committee under the stewardship of the team’s patron, Dr. Lawrence Mulindwa, the dinner aims to unite individuals from Mawokota and foster relationships with various stakeholders.

A key objective of the event is to provide financial support to the team as it embarks on a new season.

In an exclusive interview, the team’s manager, Haruna Kyobe, shed light on the purpose of the dinner.

“This event seeks to unite the people of Mawokota and establish a bond with different stakeholders in our county. The proceeds from the event will also provide financial relief to the team as we head into this tough journey,” Haruna Kyobe explained.

The entrance fees will go for UGX. 100,000 for an individual, a VIP table of ten people goes for UGX. 2,000,000 and a VVIP table at 3,000,000.

Kyobe also highlighted the challenges the team has faced, stating, “As you are all aware, we were handed this responsibility a bit late, and currently, we are behind schedule.

Unfortunately, by the time we took over, the entire last year’s squad had been given release letters by the outgoing committee.

We have been working tirelessly to build a new playing squad, which is entirely filled with new faces, and by our first game time, the team will be in good shape to compete.”

The team has bolstered its squad with quality signings, including Amour Munogera, the 2024 Masaza Cup Most Valuable Player (MVP), who joined from Buwekula Ssaza FC.

Other notable players include attacking midfielder Pius Ssebulime, midfielder Ssentongo Akbar, South Sudan forward Mamur Irival, wingers Bruno Mukwaya and Katende Akram, forward Allan Sserunga, twin brothers George Kato and George Isingoma Wasswa, and goalkeeper Abubakar Egesa from Buddu.

Mawokota FC boasts a rich history, having won the Masaza Cup three times – in 2005, 2007, and 2013.

In preparation for the new season, the team played a friendly match against Garuga Stars FC on Wednesday morning at St. Mary’s Stadium Kitende, emerging victorious with a 6-0 win.

The team will commence residential training on Saturday, June 14th, ahead of the squad unveiling event scheduled for Sunday, June 15th, in Buwama.

With its strengthened squad, Mawokota is expected to be a formidable force in the upcoming season.

The team’s Masaza Cup journey will kick off on June 29th against Buwekula.
