AFCON U20 Zonal Qualifier: Uganda, Tanzania Vie for Final Spot
The Uganda U20 boys’ football national team, the Uganda Hippos, will be in action on Friday afternoon, taking on Tanzania in the semi-finals.
The game, scheduled for 3pm at KMC Stadium, presents a tough challenge for the defending champions Uganda, as they face hosts Tanzania in a bid to qualify for the final tournament and defend their title.
Speaking to the media, Uganda Hippos head coach Mathias Lule emphasized teamwork ahead of the emphatic semi-final tie.
“Our main target is to qualify for the final tournament by beating Tanzania and reaching the final, but we can only achieve this if we fight as a team and work together to attain our goal.”
Mpasa Swabir and Bashir Mansur, who missed previous training sessions due to injuries, participated in the last training and are now available for selection.
In the event of a draw after normal time, the game will be decided by extra time or penalties.
The winner between Uganda and Tanzania will face either Kenya or Burundi in the final. The two teams will clash on Friday evening.
Notably, the two finalists will automatically qualify for the U20 AFCON final tournament.
The two finalists will fight for the trophy on Sunday this week at KMC Stadium, Tanzania.
