A Riveting Rivalry Reignites: Kitende face Buddo SS in Elite Games championship decider

As the Elite Games tournament heats up, all eyes are now on the impending showdown between two of Uganda’s most formidable secondary school netball teams—St. Mary’s Boarding Secondary School Kitende and Buddo Secondary School.

After dominating their respective opponents in emphatic fashion, the stage is set for a high-stakes clash between the two rivals on Sunday, a game that could define the tournament and renew one of the fiercest rivalries in Ugandan school netball.

Kitende, who have made their mark in the tournament with commanding victories over Janan Secondary School Bombo (120–08) and Namagabi Secondary School (59–25), enter the game on a wave of confidence.

Their comprehensive win over Janan on Saturday, highlighted by a 30–02 lead at the end of the first quarter and a halftime score of 66–05, showcased the depth and firepower of their squad.

It was a performance that reaffirmed their status as one of the tournament’s preeminent contenders.

However, it is the looming matchup against Buddo SS that will truly test Kitende’s mettle.

The two schools have a history of thrilling encounters, and their rivalry reached its peak in last year’s National Schools Championship.

Buddo emerged victorious in a nail-biting 59–57 final, clinching their first-ever national title and sending shockwaves through the school netball community.

Kitende, with their trademark aggression and skilled roster, will be hungry for redemption.

Buddo, for their part, are looking to maintain their dominance in the competition.

They breezed past Namagabi Secondary School in their second game of the tournament, registering a 120–08 win.

Their performance against Janan Secondary School Bombo earlier in the week, a crushing 103–03 defeat, further solidified their position as one of the tournament favorites.

For both teams, Sunday’s game is more than just a contest for the title—it is a chance to stake their claim as the definitive force in Ugandan school netball.

A win for Kitende would solidify their reputation as a powerhouse, while Buddo would look to prove that last year’s victory was no fluke and that they are the team to beat once again.

As the rivalry intensifies, the Elite Games championship decider between Kitende and Buddo SS promises to be a thrilling spectacle, filled with high drama, athleticism, and the unyielding spirit of competition.
