Uganda Premier League night games to kick off 8pm

The Uganda Premier League has announced a new kick-off time for all night fixtures this season, shifting from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

According to UPL CEO Bernard Bainamani, this change aims to enhance television coverage and ensure smoother matchday operations.

In addition to the new kick-off time, the UPL will introduce double-header fixtures, starting with a thrilling matchup at Namboole Stadium on Matchday Two, October 4th. The double header will feature Vipers SC facing Kitara FC, followed by KCCA FC taking on SC Villa. This move will be implemented gradually, depending on club approval, venue readiness, and broadcast demand.

This season promises to be an exciting one, with 167 out of 268 fixtures scheduled for broadcast, marking a significant increase from 134 televised matches last season.

This move is expected to attract wider audiences and provide fans across Uganda with more access to top-flight football.

Fixtures involving Vipers SC and NEC FC may still be adjusted due to their participation in CAF competitions, and their matches have been postponed for the opening weekend.
