Netball Uganda empowers umpires with refresher course

The Netball Uganda National Super League umpires’ refresher course has entered its second day at the Hamz Stadium War Memorial Stadium Nakivubo, with 24 participants engaging in comprehensive training to enhance their officiating skills.

Organized by Netball Uganda, this workshop, which commenced on Friday, September 19, 2025, is set to conclude this, Saturday, September 21.

Mary Nkinzi, the Chief umpire for Netball Uganda, expressed her enthusiasm for the empires’ dedication to improving the league’s officiating standards.

“It’s great to see the empires’ enthusiasm for improving the officiating standards of the league.

The turnout shows commitment to refreshing skills and becoming better empires, and this will undoubtedly contribute to a more professional and enjoyable league experience for all.”

International umpire and coach Ali Mugisha, the chief facilitator of the three-day workshop, emphasized the importance of standardizing officiating and professionalizing the league.

“It’s a crucial initiative to standardize officiating and professionalize the league.

By providing refresher courses and updating referees, coaches, players, and team managers on the latest rules, we aim to ensure consistency and fairness in the game.”

As the second round of the league is set to resume on October 4, 2025, National Insurance Company (NIC) Netball Club on 22 points lead the table.

In the second place is Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) with 21 points while Prisons sits 3rd on 21 points.

Uganda Christian University (UCU) on 18 points are 4th.
