Vipers SC stun African Stars with historic 1-0 away win

Vipers SC has made a significant statement in the CAF Champions League qualifiers with a thrilling 1-0 away victory over African Stars in South Africa.

Defender Hillary Mukunde scored the decisive goal in the 13th minute, thanks to an assist from Abdul Watambala.

The return leg is scheduled for September 27, 2025, at St. Mary’s Stadium in Kitende.

Notably, they reached the group phase in the 2022/23 season, where they faced tough opponents like Raja Casablanca, Horoya AC, and Simba SC.

Vipers SC away performance in the past

They didn’t go beyond the same level in their second attempt in 2018/19 Season.

Vipers SC was eliminated by Platinum Stars in the first round, losing 3-2 on aggregate, with the away leg resulting in a loss.

In the 2022/23 season, they lost to Horoya AC 2-0 away in Bamako and drew 1-1 against Raja at home in Kitende.

In 2023/24 Season, Vipers SC lost to Jwaneng Galaxy 2-0 in the away leg, but managed to win 2-1 in the return leg at home.
