Wakiso Giants off the mark in a five goal thriller win over Maroons FC

In a five goal thriller, Wakiso Giants have got off the mark with a 3-2 win in the 2024/25 StarTimes Uganda Premier League season against hosts Maroons.
The game was held at Luzira Grounds on Friday evening, the 20th September.
Marvin Oshaba, Herbert Asiimwe and Tervin Kyeyune were on target for the visitors. Baden Ogama netted a brace for the hosts.
Oshaba headed home Marvin Mukiibi free kick in the 5th minute to hand the Purple Sharks an early 1-0 lead.
Asiimwe doubled the lead for the visitors in the 32nd minute. The goal was a final product of a good team move involving David Bagoole and Hassan Ssenyonjo.
Ogama pulled on back for hosts Maroons FC in the 66th minute moments after coming on.
However, a comeback looked vanished when Kyeyune slotted the ball into an empty net in the 72nd minute. Kyeyune capitalized on an error from goalie Hassan Matovu.
In the 76th minute, Ogama completed his brace and the second for the prison warders.
The Steven Bengo coached side held on for all points that take their tally to four and second on the table.
Wakiso Giants will face Mbale Heroes on Friday 27th while Maroons, with a point in 12th place will visit Express at War Memorial Stadium, Nakivubo on September 28 in their next games respectively.
Elsewhere, KCCA drew 1-1 with BUL at Lugazi, Police and Mbarara City fired blanks at Kakyeka while URA oversaw Bright Stars 1-0 at Kavumba.
