Hon. Mwine Mpaka Rwamirama led Uganda’s Parliamentary basketball team to a 48-32 victory over Kenya, securing gold at the 2025 East African Parliamentary Games.

Hon. Mwine Mpaka Rwamirama was the evening’s star as Uganda Parliament emerged victorious against Kenya’s Parliament team, securing a landslide 48-32 win at Lugogo Indoor Stadium.

The victory earned Uganda the men’s basketball gold medal at the 2025 East African Parliamentary Games.

Hon. Mpaka, the Mbarara City South legislator, was instrumental in Uganda’s success, showcasing his exceptional skills as a pivot, pace-maker, and tempo controller.

He fetched 10 points, just one less than Uganda’s top scorer, Emmanuel Okabe.

Other standout performers included John Bosco Okiror (9 points), Julius Tumusiime (8 points), and Hon. Emmanuel Okabe (11 points).

The tournament, which featured six nations and seven sports disciplines, saw Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Congo, Somalia, and Burundi compete in basketball, volleyball, darts, golf, football, tug of war, and netball.

The games, which commenced on December 7, will conclude on December 16.

Uganda’s victory was not limited to basketball, as they also showcased their skills in volleyball.

Meanwhile, Rwanda’s women legislators lost 3-1 against Kenya.

The East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) team also suffered a 3-0 loss to Rwanda’s men’s Parliament team.
