Inaugural USSSA Sports Management and Administration course ends

The Uganda Secondary School Sports Associations (USSSA) has taken a significant step in enhancing the capacity of school administrators and sports leaders.

Recently, USSSA launched a short course on Sports Management and Administration, which attracted over 100 administrators from various regions of Uganda.

This inaugural edition, held from January 2025, was a three-day residential course that culminated at Kibuli SS Kampala.

The course covered a range of topics, including sports administration, facilities management and maintenance, communication skills, sports governance, and safeguarding.

Notably, 112 participants from 19 zones received certificates upon completing the course.

The closing ceremony was graced by Assistant Commissioner of Sports in the Ministry of Education and Sports, Summy Odongo, who urged participants to apply the knowledge acquired during the course.

In his remarks, Odongo emphasized the importance of promoting talents over prioritizing money.

“As the Ministry, we are ready to support school sports for its growth and development in the country,” he stated.

Uganda Primary Schools Sports Association (UPSSA) President William Bwambale expressed gratitude to USSSA for organizing the impactful course and pledged to implement the knowledge gained.

The USSSA Executive Committee members present at the ceremony included Kyolaba Grace Viola, Richard Muhumuza, Alweny Alice, Apolot Godliver, Boithola Francis Ocukune, and Langa Geoffrey.

UPSSA Executive members, led by President William Bwambale, also attended the ceremony. According to Patrick Okanya, Head of Capacity Building in USSSA, additional capacity-building courses are planned, with the next batch scheduled to report at Kibuli on Monday.

As USSSA continues to invest in the development of school administrators and sports leaders, it is clear that the organization is committed to promoting excellence in sports management and administration.

By empowering these stakeholders, USSSA is ultimately contributing to the growth and development of sports in Uganda.
